A day or two ago we thought
a-camping we would go.
And so a bunch of food we bought
and said, "let's start the show."
But as the day came near,
the work piled up sky high.
When he looked in the mirror,
he didn't want to say good-bye.
Meanwhile in the Toyota,
to Target off she went,
to fill her camping quota
by buying them a tent.
We made a plan together,
made a list of things to do,
but regretfully the weather
stopped shining on us two. |

The forecast promised clouds and rain.
We must admit we feared
that we would have to be insane
to go as things appeared.
But stoically we packed the car,
and quickly made some tracks,
in hope of seeing a shooting star,
while lying on our backs.
We drove for miles away from home.
The music got old fast.
And so we wrote this little poem
to make the time go past.
At first the writing was darn tough,
but then it got quite easy.
We took turns ‘till we had enough;
we hope it's not too cheesy. |
